Wearing White After Labor Day

(aka the most comfortable shoes EVER)
Pants: Citizens of Humanity
Sweater: J. Crew
Blouse: J. Crew
I honestly could care less about fashion "rules." Rules were made to be broken anyhow, right? I'm kidding of course - if my students didn't follow my classroom rules, my life would be in disarray! But you get my drift ...

One of my favorite fashion rules to break is the whole "no white after labor day." Is that really even still a thing?

This is a recent teacher appropriate outfit that incorporates white and this ridiculously beautiful J. Crew Lambswool Zip Sweater. I mean, the zippers? I die. And those sleeves? Sweater Heaven. I can't wait until it gets a little bit cooler, and I can wear it over my chambray with boots!

A Casual Teacher Outfit

Vest, button-front and sandals: Old Navy
Jeans: Citizens of Humanity
Scarf: Thailand ;)
Glasses: Chanel
I love dressing up for work: pencil skirts, button-ups, dresses, etc. I do, however, also love to dress casually (in a school-appropriate way of course)-  especially when we are experiencing our "in-between" SoCal weather (i.e. right around 72 degrees).

With this outfit, you can tell I've fallen so in love with Old Navy recently, it's a joke! They have such great items for incredible prices that it's hard not to spend a good deal of money there. As much as I would love to shop at J. Crew, Anthropologie, and Nordstrom's all the time, my teacher-budget simply doesn't allow me to (nor does my husband like me to!). This vest and these button-front tanks in various beautiful colors from Old Navy have been some of my favorite summer purchases. And now, I'm taking them into Fall with me :)

Can we also take a moment to swoon over this scarf my hubby picked up in Thailand for me? Yea, he's pretty amazing ;)

This heat wave is still scorching our SoCal classrooms. And in our old, 1950's brick Catholic school, the lack of A/C is ever more apparent for us and our students. If you follow me on Instagram, you know how hot it was on Monday. Let me tell you, I made a HUGE mistake in thinking I could get away with pants that day!

Anyhow, these are some of my recent teacher looks that are appropriate for those hot days in the classroom!

I tell ya, Old Navy has got some fantastic pieces these days! You just have to pick and choose :)

Fingers crossed this heat subsides a bit so I can move into my fall wardrobe!

It's been hot as Hades in SoCal recently, so I've been doing everything I can to stay cool while looking professional at the same time. Truthfully, I think it's much easier to choose an outfit when the temps rise because my only choices are really skirts and dresses!
