Branding Yourself with CaseApp

One of the easiest ways to get people talking about you and your brand is through simple, yet effective brand placement. My favorite way to do this is using a case for your phone or skin for your computer that clearly exemplifies your brand. Which is where CaseApp comes into play. You can create your own custom iPhone case or custom laptop skin (both of which I did) to easily reflect your brand!

Babymoon at Shade Hotel Manhattan Beach, CA

Shade Hotel Manhattan Beach, CA The Styled Teacher Babymoon

Our stay at Shade Hotel in Manhattan Beach, CA was provided for us at the standard media rate. Despite receiving a discounted price, all reviews are my own thoughts and opinions about our experience.

About a year ago, my husband and I moved from our little beach town in Manhattan Beach, California up to the San Francisco Bay Area where I grew up. We (read: I) wanted to be near family to make raising our own family just a bit easier. However, we both desperately miss Manhattan Beach and try to get back down there every chance we get. So when the opportunity arose for us to take a mini-Babymoon, we immediately decided on Manhattan Beach, and knew Shade Hotel right in the heart of downtown Manhattan beach would be the perfect splurge for this special trip!

Denim Jackets: A Teacher Staple Item

One of my favorite staple items to wear this spring has been denim jackets - I feel like I've been wearing one to school almost every day! They go great on top of a dress (short, midi, or even maxi), with black or white denim jeggings, and just about any other way you can think to style them. I have two colors - a medium wash denim and light wash denim, both from Old Navy.

I'm calling the denim jacket a teacher staple item because they are simply so versatile and can make nearly any dress or tank top appropriate for work. I dress fairly conservatively, so I don't like having too thin of a strap on my dresses or top - I usually aim for the three finger rule to determine if my top is school-appropriate or if I have to throw on a denim jacket (or sweater, denim vest, etc.)

I've included some of my favorite ways I've styled my denim jackets, along with links to as many of the pieces as I could find. (I'm also five months pregnant in some of these pics just as an FYI!) Please note these are affiliate links, which help keep my little part of the internet alive :)

LuLa Roe My Honest Thoughts

I try really hard not to be a "bandwagon" fashion buyer. Remember those cute pointy-toed heels with studs on them that were all the rage a few years ago? Yea, didn't buy any of those - as cute as they were, I'm glad I didn't spend my money. I try to purchase mostly classic, timeless pieces, especially if I'm going to be forking over a pretty penny.

So when LuLa Roe came at all of us (mostly teachers) like a freight train screeching through the night, I resisted. What can I say, I was born with a rebellious attitude. I continued to resist, until my serious FOMO wrangled me into making my first LuLa Roe purchase. I grabbed a Madison in a beautiful lavender color. When it arrived, I wasn't incredibly impressed for the price. And to make matters worse, the Madison is still hanging in my closet, impatiently waiting to be worn :/

I figured my experience with LuLa Roe would end there, and I simply wasn't a LuLa Roe gal. Maybe my style is just a little too different than that of the brand. So I all but gave up, went back to Old Navy, Banana Republic, J. Crew, and all of my standard go-to stores, and called it a day.

So when Sarah from @lularoelovekarensarah contacted me about a possible collaboration, I figured I'd give the brand a second shot. Sarah sent me some beautiful pieces - two leggings, an Amelia dress, and a Carly dress. After spending a few days in each piece, I've compiled an honest review of each below.

Carly Dress: I truly love this piece, as the fabric is quite substantial and soft. I like styling it with a belt, a side tie, or a denim vest. Definitely my favorite LuLa Roe piece! :)

The Infamous Leggings: They're comfortable for sure, but because they're one size fits all, they don't really fit me all that great. I tend to dress more conservative and preppy, so the unique patterns aren't really my jam - although I know others absolutely love them! Contrary to the other prices, the leggings are a decent bargain!

Amelia Dress: What I can I say? I really do love the flattering design of this dress. But the material is less than desirable. The top of the dress has a nice, soft material, but the skirt part of the dress feels stiff and on the thin side. For $65, I would expect a more substantial material used for the skirt. That doesn't take away from how much I love the flattering design though!

All in all, I do like LuLa Roe, but you won't be finding me searching high and low for any specific piece. I think my personal style is simply different than their target audience. However, I know many of my teacher friends love this brand, so feel free to try some pieces out and form your own opinion! :)

What are your thoughts? Are you a LuLa Roe friend or foe?

9 Easy Spring Teacher Outfits Ideas

Spring is probably my favorite season to dress for in the classroom. Yes, I do love fall - the beautiful colors, the changing leaves, scarves! But I love being WARM. Sitting outside with the sun shining on my face just brings me some sense of inner happiness that I can't put into words.

So when the sun comes out about this time of year and starts shining early in the morning until later in the evening, my spring teacher outfits dust themselves off and make their way out of my closet. Some of my go-to spring teacher pieces include dresses, skirts, and white denim jeggings (you can never go wrong with white denim jeggings - they're spring's answer to the winter black denim jeggings).

Here are some of my favorite looks for this spring, along with links to as many of the pieces as I could find. (I'm also four months pregnant in these pics just as an FYI!) Please note these are affiliate links, which help keep my little part of the internet alive :)
